Getting started
Bg Remover works straight from your browser — no account, app or download needed.
- Open the Background Remover (or any tool from the Tools page).
- Drag in an image or click Choose File. PNG, JPG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20MB are supported.
- The AI runs on your device — your image is never uploaded to a server.
- Click Download. The result is saved in the same format you uploaded.

Troubleshooting & FAQ
Processing seems stuck on "Loading AI model…"
The first time you remove a background, your browser downloads the AI model, which can take a while on a slow connection. It is cached afterward, so later images are much faster. If nothing happens for more than two minutes, refresh the page and try again on Wi-Fi.
I got an "Unsupported format" error
The tools accept PNG, JPG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20MB. iPhone HEIC photos and TIFF files need converting to JPG first. On the PNG, JPG/JPEG and WebP pages, only that format is accepted — use the main Background Remover for any format.
My download button doesn't do anything
Check that your browser isn't blocking downloads for this site. On iPhone, the file may open in a new tab — press and hold the image and choose Save to Photos.
The cutout isn't perfect
Results are best on sharp, well-lit photos where the subject clearly stands out. Busy backgrounds, low resolution, motion blur, or a subject that is the same color as the background can reduce accuracy — try a clearer photo.
Why does my JPG result have a white background?
JPG files cannot store transparency, so the removed background is filled with white. For a transparent background, use the PNG or WebP background remover.
It's slow on my phone
Background removal is heavy work for a phone. Large photos are scaled down automatically to keep it fast. Closing other apps and tabs also helps. On a computer, the tools use your graphics card when the browser supports it.
Is my image uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. Every tool runs inside your browser, so your images stay on your device and disappear when you close the tab.
