1. Overview

This policy explains what information Bg Remover ("we," "us") collects when you use our website and background-removal tools, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run and improve the website:

  • Your images: not collected. All tools run inside your browser. The photos you choose are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to us.
  • Usage data. We use Google Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and how fast pages load. These services may set cookies and collect your IP address, browser type and device information.
  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, delivered through our form provider (Web3Forms).

We do not offer accounts, so we don't store passwords or profiles.

3. How we handle your images

  • The background-removal AI model is downloaded to your browser and runs on your device. Your image is not sent to any server.
  • Edited images exist only in your browser and are discarded when you close or refresh the tab. If you click “Change background”, the cutout is kept for a moment in your browser's own storage so the Background Changer can open it, and is deleted as soon as it opens. It never leaves your device.
  • Because we never receive your images, we cannot view, store, share or use them to train AI models.

4. How we use information

We use the limited data described above to:

  • Understand which tools are useful and improve the website.
  • Fix performance problems and errors.
  • Reply to messages you send us.

5. When we share information

We don't sell your personal data. Information is handled only by these service providers, under their own privacy policies:

  • Vercel — hosts the website and provides Speed Insights.
  • Google Analytics — visitor statistics.
  • Web3Forms — delivers contact-form messages to us.
  • Content delivery networks (such as esm.sh, Google Fonts and the AI model host) — deliver the scripts, fonts and AI model files your browser needs.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We store your light/dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the tools will still work. See our Cookie Policy for details.

7. Data retention

  • Images: never stored by us.
  • Analytics data: kept according to Google Analytics retention settings (up to 14 months).
  • Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to answer you.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data or request deletion.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

9. Security

The website is served over HTTPS, and because your images never leave your device, there is no image data on our side to protect. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to minimize risk at every step.

10. Children's privacy

Bg Remover is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

11. International users

We may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for international data transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, we'll provide additional notice.
